Hawkwind Postpones US Tour until March 2014

Just in, [[bands/hawkwind|Hawkwind]] has postponed their upcoming US tour due to Dave Brock's ill health, their statement from Facebook:

"As many of you will now be aware, Dave was taken ill a couple of weeks ago. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stress related, aggravated by the trademark dispute in the United States which could result in years of litigation.

After enduring a series of tests, Dave has now been advised that it could be dangerous to his health to embark on a grueling 14,000 mile tour at this time.

King Crimson #8 lineup announced

From DGM website:
"The 8th incarnation of [[bands/king-crimson|King Crimson]] will be Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk and Robert Fripp.

Writing on his (not yet published) dairy for September 24th Fripp notes "The Point Of Crim-Seeing was of a conventional Back Line – Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Tony Levin and Pat Matstelotto - reconfigured as the Front Line, with Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk and myself as Back Line."

Winter Soulstice

Artist: Sonus Umbra
Label: Not On Label
Catalog#: 7 00261 38770 3
Format: CD
Country: US
Released: 2013-08-23
Strawberry Bricks Entry:
With their ffifth album, Sonus Umbra, roughly “Shadow of Sound”, has started yet another chapter in the band's long tortured history. Originally named Radio Silence and hailing from Mexico City, the trio of Andrés Aullet (vocals, guitar, and keys), Ricardo Gómez (guitar), and and Luis Nasser (bass) shone brightly in the early 90s, gaining a large cult following but broke up due to internal stress.

Charlotte Church

While I'm a huge fan of Charlotte Church in the movie I'll Be There, I really don't know beans about her musical career. However, working with partner Johnathan Powell and producer Gethin John, her series of EPs this year are culminating to a quite inspired musical direction. Give a look:

Space Gypsy > Turner, Nik

Artist: Nik Turner
Label: Cleopatra/Purple Pyramid
Catalog#: CLP 0661
Format: Vinyl, Vinyl
Country: US
Released: 2013
Strawberry Bricks Entry:
Sometime right before Hawkeaster 2013, Dave Brock's @HawkwindHQ camp sent out an ominous tweet; “Really hope this is not the year we have to say goodbye....” Had the rift with the Mighty Thunder Rider reopened? An appearance at SXSW was portent, but what was really going on? Well, now we know: Nik Turner is back, with a new album, Space Gypsy, on Cleopatra Records, a new band, and a tour coinciding with Hawkwind-proper's first US tour in decades. <p> No, this isn't Space Ritual, Hawklords, xHawkwind, or any combination of previous Hawkwind alumni.
